Lay Ministries

At Church of Our Saviour our ministry involves many ways as we reach out to our local community and city and the world:

The Episcopal Churchwomen at Church of Our Saviour work to raise money for several causes.  We have supported The Jenkintown Food Bank for many years.   Several of our members volunteer there.   We are a polling place in Jenkintown, giving us a great opportunity for our Bake Sale which we designate for the Food Bank.  The women have also raised money for other organizations such as The Breathing Room Foundation and Episcopal Community Services and were able to support a couple who were former members when they were homeless and needed assistance.

The whole congregation supports scholarships for our Companion Diocese in Guatemala.  While education is technically free there, the students still require hundreds of dollars for books, supplies and uniforms.  We have supplied numerous $150 scholarships over many years.

Currently we are working with another Episcopal Parish, St. Mark’s on Frankford Avenue, as they minister to addicts, recovering addicts, the homeless, and those suffering from extreme poverty in their neighborhood.   We are also working to help a family settle when they finally come to our country seeking asylum from persecution as Christians.

We also offer a place for comfort and healing for anyone.  Everyone is welcome to our Services of Healing which are held at noon on the first Monday of the month, and at 5:00 PM on the first Sunday of the month.   For those who need prayers but cannot attend, a simple call to our office at 215-887-0500, can request prayers for the caller or for a friend or relative.
